This is a note-based class and not a video-based one. That means that there will only be a handful of videos at most. This class is navigated by you through notes, discussion, assignments, and infographics. Therefore, you never have to worry about missing a session. You can participate whenever you have free time.

The course is four weeks long and we will focus on one week at a time, looking at one particular aspect of writing per week. We will cover topics including how to start, the paradox of writer's block, story tension, naming/collection, and a whole new (and far more effective) way to think about and construct paragraphs.

There are 6 elements that may be involved in any one week of the course: videos, readings, lecture notes, discussion board, exercises, and assignments. Each week will be a collection and combination of these elements.

Week 1 will cover motivation and the way to think about your writing that will keep you going and productive. We'll cover an essential way of looking at the mental obstacles that stop you from working.

Week 2 will introduce a brand new way of thinking about paragraph structure. Of all the things I've taught regarding writing over the last 20 years, this concept has given me more positive feedback than any other.

Week 3 will focus on the essential nature of tension building in a story. We'll cover not only how to do that but why it's so critical.

And Week 4 will explore two of the most important concepts that a writer should prioritize: naming and collecting. We'll talk about exactly what these mean and why writing is not just an activity but a way of looking at and interacting with the world around you.
